Totally get that. Personally, I am in fact a Trump supporter but am of the opinion this is an unstable time in our country and the next year could get dicey if the left and right don't start seeing eye to eye and listening to eachother.

My opinion, if a zombie apocalypse broke out the very first thing I would do is build makeshift body armor. Nothing major, probably mostly pvc strung together with paracord and duct tape to cover the extremities. As for a gun, I would say for zombies a keltec PMR-30 would be a solid choice due to it having 30 round mags while being the same size as a regular handgun. That would probably be emergency use only though since the noise would attract more. .22 magnum would probably be difficult to scavenge though so another great option would of course be a glock 17 with extended magazines. But what I'd really want to have is a Kukri. Great general purpose survival knife.

I would also want to have a high quality airgun from a company like RWS or Benjamin because ammo is ridiculously cheap, and the guns are near silent. This would be used for hunting mostly, but you could kill a zombie with it so long as it was somewhat close. https://youtu.be/zqYi_eN7ypM
