The biggest runs are Miller, Bendis/Brubaker and Waid. I've listed all four runs in both their Deluxe/Omnibus formats and their standard paperback versions. I imagine they're all available digitally, as well.

Frank Miller (1980-1982, 1986)

Daredevil was the comics character that helped me to get through the worst of my depression. Daredevil's mantra is the same as his father's: "never give up". Through the years, you see Matt Murdock go through the ringer, but even when things seem impossible or difficult, he never gives up. Yeah, I know it's fiction, but seeing someone go through what Matt did in Born Again and come out the other side of it stronger than ever made me say "I can do this too".

I'd recommend reading Miller's original run (issues #158-191) first, then going straight into Born Again.

Another good run to read is from Mark Waid. Waid's run is a departure tonally from the runs that came before it, but it still remains true to the character. Matt gets a new lease on life after years of misery and darkness, choosing not to be weighed down by the unbearable pain and loss of his recent past. He chooses to move forward and start living life as he wants to.

Good luck, /u/HeySabangotasecond. I know all too well that depression is a bitch and a half to deal with. Talking with someone you trust (family, friends, therapist, etc.) can help a great deal.

This too shall pass.

Getting ready for the Netflix series?

Immortal Iron Fist was amazing. Really made me appreciate a character I'd never cared about before.

Frank Miller's Daredevil is The defining Daredevil story. It's an absolute masterpiece.

Luke Cage is a bit more difficult. I think his New Avengers stuff is the best his character has ever been. You see him moving away from just smashing dealer's faces in and really stepping up to the big leagues. There's also the recent Avengers Origins: Luke Cage one shot. It's a retelling of his origin obviously.

If you are getting ready for the Netflix Defenders series I also highly recommend Alias which introduces the character of Jessica Jones, who'll be the fourth member of the Defenders. It's a great read.

Yes, I would definitely recommend the Frank Miller and Klaus Janson omnibus and reading that before Born again, its my favourite Marvel run ever. its this. You may be able to also get it softcover.

My second two favourite Marvel runs are Claremonts run of Uncanny Xmen and Stan Lees original run of fantastic four. Also I highly highly highly recommend Immortal Iron fist Volume 1.

I'm currently reading through this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Daredevil-Frank-Miller-Janson-Omnibus/dp/0785185682/ref=pd_sim_b_11?ie=UTF8&refRID=0J75TAVE96XMH5JEM0QV

It's awesome. It features the first appearance of Kingpin in the Daredevil comics (he was a spiderman villain first iirc)
