Oh sure, so to be clear I think the whole "permanent physical transformation" part of terrigenesis is a little underexplored. If you want to check them out anyway my two recommendations would be:

  1. Inhumans by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee: This is kind of considered the go to comic for introducing the inhumans. You don't need to have any prior knowledge to read this one. Lee's art is pretty stylish, really shadowy and stuff. Not everyone digs it but I think it works.

  2. Infinity by Jonathan Hickman, Jim Cheung, and Jerome Opena: For something more recent, this is newish comic event that features the inhumans pretty heavily. It's more bombastic than Inhumans by Jenkins but I enjoy Hickman's sharp script a lot. There's some lead in material though. I would recommend also picking up this book to provide some context. Infinity was a crossover and culmination of two different books Hickman was writing, Avengers and New Avengers. Totally recommend reading the New Avengers stuff and totally recommend against the Avengers stuff. If you do decide to go this route, I could give you a summary of the Avengers stuff. Incidentally, I think Infinity would be great reading for Infinity War and maybe A4, as it seems like a lot of that movie might be inspired by this book.

Hey good luck! Comics aren't cheap but I hope you check one of these out!

I've been reading comics for a while but haven't read any Moon Knight yet and plan on doing so before the show comes out.

The main runs for beginners are:

Charlie Huston/David Finch's Run (Moon Knight #1-13) (this revitalized the character for the modern day)
Warren Ellis/Declan Shalvey's Run (Moon Knight #1-6) (critically acclaimed run)
Jeff Lemire/Greg Smallwood (Moon Knight #1-14) (another critically acclaimed run)

It would probably be easier by using Marvel Unlimited (Marvel's Netflix style subscription to comics)

Or if you want the physical copies your local comic book store. You can try Amazon but it could hard since certain books are out of print.

Huston/Finch's Run Vol. 1 + Vol. 2 - on Amazon
Ellis/Shalvey's Run - on Amazon
Lemire/Smallwood's Run - on Amazon

NOTE: You don't strictly have to read the runs in order. It's like watching Age of Ultron then going back and watching Thor 2. As long as you understand the basic chronology (Huston->Ellis->Lemire) you can read them in any order you want. I've been told the runs are pretty compartmentalized/modular.

Also if you plan on getting Marvel Unlimited it works best with using the app (like on a tablet or a big phone). You can try the browser but I always found it too clunky.

Marvel Now Run:

One (This one can be a bit rough to get through. I recommend doing the 1980 run digitally if it’s available in good quality. The run is good but only the pit of print second one is the real run)

Two (This is the one that’s out of print so digital will be much better priced)

Three (This has the absolute BEST issues and the worst. All of Moench’s issues are classics here, but he leaves like 10 issues in and Zelenetz takes over and he’s no good.)

It’ll probably be best to go digital and just read issues 1-33

This run is currently out of print as well but it should show up as “Moon Knight (2006)” on digital sources

u/Varranis · 2 pointsr/marvelstudios

There's so much going on in the comics that the best way to learn is to get immersed in a good story. That said, I very highly recommend the following:

Thor: God of Thunder #1 - #11 by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic (#1 - #5 are on Kindle unlimited here)
Thanos Vol. 2 #13 - #18 by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw
Cosmic Ghost Rider #1 - #5 by Donny Cates and Dylan Burnett
Secret Wars by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic
Venom Vol. 4 #1 - #6 (on Kindle Unlimited)
Infinity Gauntlet by Jim Starlin and George Perez
The Vision #1 - #12 by Tom King and Gabriel Walta

Some of those directly influenced the movies, some are just amazing stories in their own right.

I've heard Hickman's Fantastic Four and Avengers runs are very good as well, but I haven't read them myself.

Some ongoing books worth checking out are:

House of X / Powers of X
Immortal Hulk
Absolute Carnage

u/cubitoaequet · 13 pointsr/marvelstudios

You should check out the Matt Fraction/David Aja run of Hawkeye. I don't really read comics much, but that series really made Hawkeye my favorite Avenger. Really great stuff, like an entire issue seen through the perspective of his dog.

Right now you can find that set new or used on Amazon for an exorbitant amount of money, with your link sold out these are hard to find. You can also find a Phase 2 set on Amazon for a decent amount. But to your question, I can see a Phase 3 set or a Marvel First 10 years set but I can see that First 10 year set running a grand easily. I can see a Phase 3 set running around $250 and the overall set running $500-$600 depending on the extras. I expect the case, like Phase One being the Tesseract briefcase and Phase Two being the Orb, being the Infinity Gauntlet. Just my thoughts anyway. I'm sure if Disney thinks they can make money on it they'll put it out. Though we probably won't hear anything about that till closer to the release of Avengers 4.

u/jpacerox · 1 pointr/marvelstudios

Read the comic this version of Captain Marvel is based on. Carol has really dry humor and that’s what she’s going for. If you watch from that lens you can see that she actually played it perfect.

Amazon has the Marvel Phase 1 Set and Phase 2 Set

Ive got both of these.

The Phase 1 set is getting more and more difficult to come by hence the price. Both of them are pretty sweet though. They both come with replicas of S.H.I.E.L.D dossiers and trinkets from the movies like Scott Langs Basket Robbins name tag, an Avengers Patch, Steve Rogers medical files before and after he took the Super Soldier Serum.

Im sure a Phase 3 set is in the works eventually.

u/Cmeloz33 · 70 pointsr/marvelstudios

You can find all three phases on amazon. Links below. I bought them and plan on binge watching until endgame. Enjoy!

No idea, but i have the movie Phase 1 box set, and the random items in it are actually pretty impressive. Drawings on actual napkins, newspaper clippings on actual newsprint, a Donald Blake hospital bracelet...

The amazon page has a halfassed unboxing video.

> MCU didnt even include the Netflix or ABC shit in their officially released timeline.

Are you talking about the timeline from the "Marvel Studios: the First 10 Years" book? Because that one wasn't even published by Marvel, it's from Titan. This book is the one made by Marvel; it hasn't been released yet. Furthermore, that timeline was clearly only for the Marvel Studios movies, it didn't even include the One-Shots.

u/Stars_And_Garters · 2 pointsr/marvelstudios

Ok, I try to pick things for people that are relatively new and relatively self contained. I think you might like:

Edmondson's Punisher

Ellis' Moon Knight

Slott's Silver Surfer

Silver Surfer gets a little cosmic sometimes but if you just go with the flow it won't lose you.

Let me know if you have questions, want to see something else, or just want to talk comics! I live and breathe Marvel.

Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One - Avengers Assembled (Iron Man / The Incredible Hulk / Iron Man 2 / Thor / Captain America: The First Avenger / The Avengers) [Blu-ray]

Bought it when it was like a little over a $100 during pre order. I also have the one for phase 2:

Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two (Iron Man 3 / Thor: The Dark World / Captain America: The Winter Soldier / Guardians of the Galaxy / Avengers: Age of Ultron / Ant-Man)(Amazon Exclusive) [Blu-ray]

There are the "phase box sets" That range in the $60-75 range

Phase 1 Set

Phase 2 Set

Phase 3, Pt.1 Set

At the current price these are listed (these fluctuate quite a bit, if you're patient you can get these a bit cheaper) you're looking at right around the $200 mark... assuming there will be a similar package for Phase 3, pt2 (Black Panther - SM:FFH) add another $70 for that set. So all in all you're looking at $250-300 for the full set of 23 films when it's all said and done if you go this route.

(These sets also have slightly more expensive versions as well that have some collective cards/nicer packaging)

I've got all three of these sets, and they've been pretty good for me. Each disc has the original features of the regular blu-ray release.. There is an additional bonus disc for each set, but it kind of sucks to be honest.... Still though.. If you haven't been collecting all the films as they've been released, and wanted to get them in one big haul, this is certainty an option, and I'm really happy with the ones I purchased.

u/waitingonmyclone · 7 pointsr/marvelstudios

It's a good time to read The Infinity Gauntlet graphic novel if you haven't already. You can see how everyone fits in, and Nebula actually plays a key role.

u/danny_b87 · 35 pointsr/marvelstudios

Always thought was weird they don’t have a phase 1/2/3 box set. Esp now that rereleasing them all in 4k

edit: thanks for the comments guys, here they are
Phase 1 - Amazon
Phase 2 - Amazon
Phase 3 Part 1 - Amazon
Region free but UK box looks like if that matters to you. Personally I'll only rebuy if they release in 4k since I own ~half of them

I am currently rewatching everything with my wife, wich is crazy because she is not that into Marvel Movies. Next one is Ant Man this week. We watch on Blu Ray so we can see extras, featurettes, deleted scenes and bloopers. I bought all the new BR sets and they are quite satsifying (I even put the little GOTG 1 poster that comes with one set in my daughter's rooms because she is in love with Rocket Raccon)

So yeah, you can say I am an addict too.

u/bhlombardy · 9 pointsr/marvelstudios (Canada) shows it as "Currently unavailable" so you cant even preorder it from there... if I scroll down to the details it reads:

Publisher: Abrams; Illustrated edition edition (Sept. 1 2020)

Not very helpful, but at least you have some indication that it's not just your order nor Target.

Also Barnes & Noble:

I got it off Amazon. It was on sale and I had a few gift Cards with a couple dollars left over. In total only cost me 25$

A Young Adult novel meant to serve as a kind of official, but not really canon origin story for Thanos. Here’s an Amazon link

u/Massawyrm · 1 pointr/marvelstudios

TRIUMPH & TORMENT is my personal favorite and a must read. Doctor Strange + Doctor Doom drawn by Mike Mignola? Yes please.

u/apocalypsenowandthen · 1 pointr/marvelstudios

That's the start of the newest arc. Marvel are resetting their books back to #1 pretty regularly at the moment. The reading order goes Pursuit of Flight, Down, The Enemy Within then Higher, Further, Faster, More

u/stanleytuccimane · 8 pointsr/marvelstudios

Is this the book you're talking about? Looks like Amazon has it available for below MSRP.

u/spazz4life31 · 1 pointr/marvelstudios

this is region 1

and i have the briefcase for phase 1. except you can’t buy phase 1 on amazon anymore for face value

u/mizubyte · 4 pointsr/marvelstudios

I'm crushed that it doesnt look like we are getting a display version of Phase 3, like we did Phase 1 and 2. Even this Infinity Set doesnt look like it's for display, without a prop or anything... plus it doesnt look like the digital copies will be included like there were for Phase 2? Major letdown.

Anyone know if the official phase 3 part 1 set came with digital codes? Marvel Studios Cinematic Collection Phase 3 [Blu-ray]

u/sterwers · 4 pointsr/marvelstudios

They have the sets for Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 Part 1 (Civil War through Ragnarok). An amazing investment (not really an investment for me, my aunt got me the sets for Christmas), my friends and I have watched all these films countless times

u/nyCyrus · 2 pointsr/marvelstudios

And what would follow the one /u/Tom-ocil suggested? I'm assuming this happens way after the original event?

u/Coolest_Breezy · 2 pointsr/marvelstudios

Here is the first TPB on Amazon, assuming you're in the United States.

I think it’s the only tie in novel, the other one I know of is the novelization of IW.

u/Anomango · 5 pointsr/marvelstudios

Here's a link if anyone else are interested in buying one; also an unboxing video.

u/hypedup80 · 1 pointr/marvelstudios

BTW, this is from "Cosmic Ghost Rider #1" by Donny Cates.

The arc is called "Baby Thanos Must Die" and is a direct follow-up to the "Thanos Wins" arc, also by Donny Cates.

There is also a Hardcover that collects both arcs

You should read them both. Just 11 issues in total. Amazing stuff.

u/itmonkey78 · 2 pointsr/marvelstudios

I'm in the UK and the box sets will cost me £188 ($230) for the blurays on Price goes up to £275 if I want the 4k versions of the Phase 3 box sets (phase 1 & 2 arent available in 4k)

Phase 1 box set: $45
Phase 2 box set: $59
Phase 3 box set part 1: $49

That's only $155 plus maybe another $70 for Phase 3 part 2 which is released next month (doesnt look like shows it but I can preorder it on the UK site)

u/Bigsam411 · 8 pointsr/marvelstudios

You can still buy it:

I bought it on launch and ended up giving away my phase one blu-rays that i already owned to my sister for her kids. I decided to not buy any of the phase 2 movies until box set released.

u/Shooter_XI · 2 pointsr/marvelstudios

If you login to Amazon, Phase 1&2 + Phase 3 (Part 1 - up to Ragnarok) are listed as blu ray release on May 3rd 2019. Maybe they are bringing the older ones back into production.

MCU Phase 1

MCU Phase 2

MCU Phase 3 (Part One)

u/hackers_d0zen · 1 pointr/marvelstudios

Yeah that makes sense, I hope something is included that acknowledges the problem but improves upon his 'solution'.

If you read the comics, btw, he absolutely does make the same argument as is made in this movie. It's all in this issue.

u/appleswitch · 5 pointsr/marvelstudios

Hawkeye practically doesn't exist in the MCU. Read Matt Fraction and David Aja's Hawkeye: My Life as a Weapon if you want to fall in love with what the character could be, then get very sad when you realize he might continue to be a cardboard cutout in the movies.

u/hargendarsh · 7 pointsr/marvelstudios

Warren Ellis’ Moon Knight is a good intro. 6 issues that stand alone and work together.

u/gray_decoyrobot · 2 pointsr/marvelstudios

Both are good but Infinity Gauntlet is a bit easier to get into than as Hickman's Infinity is a lot more continuity based. With Infinity Gauntlet you can just get [these] ( two [paperbacks] ( and read them.

I'd say Thanos Quest and Infinity Gauntlet is more important as Infinity War seems to draw more from them than Infinity.

u/blazemongr · 2 pointsr/marvelstudios

Preceded by The Thanos Quest if you want the background.

Included in “Rebirth of Thanos

u/webshellkanucklehead · 2 pointsr/marvelstudios

Just buy em, man, you won't regret it.

There are "Phase" packages for One and Two

I don't know how these compare to just buying them but I don't see a reason not to.

u/Precipitate_ · 5 pointsr/marvelstudios

It looks like you are in desperate need of the Phase One Collection.

u/Uncanny_Doom · 57 pointsr/marvelstudios

Start with Warren Ellis' run and then when you're done with that you go Jeff Lemire.

u/ITziMeow · 5 pointsr/marvelstudios

These are the sets I was talking about.

Unfortunately, they haven't announced the AOS Season 4 blu-ray release date or if it will even get one.

Phase 2-

Phase 3-

EDIT: Just to clarify, these boxsets will only get you up to Spider-Man Homecoming. Infinity War, Captain Marvel, Ant Man and the Wasp, and Avengers 4 will receive their own matching box set once Avengers 4 is released on disc.

u/Apothecary3 · 23 pointsr/marvelstudios

It is the Rebirth of Thanos storyline from Jim Starlin's Silver Surfer run yes. It has been implied that it was used for the planning of Infinity War. I would guess that since it isn't a major event comic it be talked about by casual readers and non-readers.

u/coflropter · 1 pointr/marvelstudios

Something's wrong with your link, Try this one.

u/TheSecondLesson · 1 pointr/marvelstudios

Bucky should be wearing Cap’s gear by now.

Also, the rise of doom should be a standalone film with the focus solely on doom.

A4 should have shown Marvel that villains don’t always have to lose.

Lastly, some of dooms best material is when he was working alongside Strange. Don’t start them off as adversaries.

Edit: for those interested

u/Aussieswedefash · 3 pointsr/marvelstudios

Silver Surfer: Rebirth of Thanos.

It tells the story of how Thanos returned to life and began his quest for the Infinity Gems, and also contains the Thanos Quest mini-series where he actually goes about getting his hands on them (making it the VERY loose basis for the Infinity War film).

Also, Infinity by Jonathan Hickman. It introduced the Black Order and has a plot that seems to have inspired the movie, such as Thanos' forces attacking Wakanda.

u/CynicalRaps · 1 pointr/marvelstudios

Nope, $25 brand new in store, and as low as $12 paperback on Amazon . Also no, the original infinity War comic is a 6 issue arc immediately after Infinity Gauntlet story . The one you listed was a Warzones/Secret Wars tie in story.

u/mcucanon · 2 pointsr/marvelstudios

As far as comics go, below is a list of all of the comics canon to the MCU and the TPBs there are collected in. Sometimes a Prelude comic might include all new stories, or it might be an adaptation of a previous film, or a combination of the two.

All of the canon comics (except the free Jessica Jones) are collected in the following TPBs:
