Yeah it's this one https://www.amazon.com/Das-Boot-Original-Uncut-Version/dp/B0001XAOLQ

I guess almost 5 hours felt like 6 hours in my memory of it... best version of the movie! It was originally shown on TV as a 6 part series but it is the original movie as intended and not a knock off, just the full cut.

The version I have is one long movie. I don't think you can get it on Blu-ray, sadly.

I should clarify that the 2011 2-Disc Blu-ray has both of those cuts. They reissued it in 2012 as a single disc release with just the Director's cut.

You can get the TV version in the US on DVD on this release.

I started with the 145 min. Theatrical version. I liked it a lot. Much of the films best elements are still very effective (Nail biting suspense mixed with the sense of claustrophobia induced by the tight filming etc)

Later I saw the 210 min 'directors cut'. for years it was my favorite cut.

When I finally got to see the full 'mini-series' cut, the difference was so profound that I haven't watched it any other way since. Yes it is long, I mean, like, Russian Novel long. But it's that novelistic scope that provides much of the intensity during the films best parts. When I'm allowed to invest emotionally into the individual characters it greatly increases the drama later in the film.

There is a lot to be impressed by Das Boot but the greatest feat of the film is that you see the characters less as 'Nazis' and more like soldiers/sailors. The longer cut enhances this humanization greatly and it is what is diminished with the shorter, albeit more cinematic, cuts.

My Das Boot - The Original Uncut Version (2004) copy is one of the most treasured items in my collection.
