So disregarding the cost of a restaurant's carbonator and the soda machine itself and the network of tubes connecting all that equipment throughout the kitchen, that's about $0.16 per pint, which is the figure we need.
This price of $4.99 would put the equivalent SodaStream syrup (12 liters, or 25.4 pint-size servings per bottle) at $0.20 per pint.
I can get Dasani DROPS for $3.59. At the recommended serving size, that would give me 16 pints of flavored water at $0.22 apiece. More expensive than that even, considering that I'm sure everyone uses more than recommended.
