Everything I've seen of the game reminds me of the all the Gungrave-esque action PS2 games that came out.

Yeah most of the time unless there is a supply issue, which is whats up with both of those.
TMNT on NES - not released in Japan, late in cycle.
Bonk - VERY late in cycle, on a competing system.
Games on older systems late in cycles are usually more expensive due to lower runs, fewer purchases.

I understand it had a lower production quantity, but the game isn't that good so it balances out - it's not one of those "hidden gems" you find out about later. It's in stock on Amazon and just your regular retail price if you really want it. Ignore the reviews on Amazon, I suspect they're resellers or people trying to increase it's value. Watch reviews on Youtube or check out Metacritic to understand why this is a below average (or average at best) game.
