My friend bought 2 identical folding tables (24x48) next to each other. It used to be just one with a project board over it.
I had a friend who is a wood worker build me a table topper that folds in half and I lay it across one folding table. It provides a 37"x37" space for the game and 5" rail for cards. Based on this but no terrain/foam and simply add 1x6 (cut to 5") around the edge and then felt over the main area.
I also have that table and use it for board game days!

It works shockingly well though, its very sturdy and fairly thick, bumping isn't a problem, and it has room for cards/templates on the side
