You'll be pretty hard-pressed to find a powerful machine with the gtx 1060 and a great battery life. The Acer predator 300 has an advertised 7 hour battery life for $1050 and is widly considered one of the best value laptops based on its specs and price range. It has an Intel Quad Core i7-7700HQ processor, 16gb of ram, a 256GB SSD, and that GTX 1060 dGPU.

Alternatively, look into the Acer V15 Nitro for $1180if you're looking for a more sleek laptop with a 1TB HDD.

If you were willing to sacrifice some of the battery life from the predator, this Eluktronics P650 for $1300 is a very popular laptop and great at this price range. Its well built, and powerful with many customizable specifications, a good display, and a sleek design. The rest of the specs are an Intel Quad core i7-7700HQ processor, 16gb ram, a 512gb SSD, and a GTX 1060 dGPU making it a very powerful machine. You could add an aftermarket HDD if you desired, but the SSD is rather large at 512.

For an option at the top of your budget, this Eluktronics P650 for $1500 has everything you'd want (except for the battery life), including an Intel Kaby lake i7-7700HQ processor, 16GB of ram, a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD, and a GTX 1060dGPU. The display is a 120 HZ for this model as well.

Hopefully this will help you out. If you want more of an idea as to whats on the market, consider checking my extensive laptop recommendation guide

My top pick with the GTX 1070 GRAPHICS CARD is;

CPU: intel i7 6700hq
GPU gtx 1060 6gb
RAM 6 gb
My system is a gaming laptop (I use it to work/ gamming) at 1080p the game play aroud 50 fps in very high with dropes in cities,
at 1440p at high I play around 40 fps

However the draw distance in this game is very short then you can sew how a lot npc and items spawn,

I would recommend the Eluktronics P650HP6-G because it comes with everything you need , i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading, 1 TB of HDD for storage, 120Hz 5ms G-SYNC screen which is a must have for this price range and great for gaming and high build quality.

Apart from the fact that the laptop you currently have at the moment doesn't have the best heat management, it also has pretty poor performance components such as processor AND graphics card for those demanding tasks you do. This Eluktronics P650HP6-G VR Ready 15.6" 120Hz 5ms Gamers Edition Laptop will take you to another level in gaming and video editing as it has a far more current and powerful specs and of course, it's heat management is by far better than the Acer Aspire 7741G-5464G50 you have. ..This laptop I am recommending also has a much better build quality as well as display and overall ratings.

I would recommend the Eluktronics P650HP6. It has a 120hz Screen, GTX 1060, Excellent Cooling, 256 GB SSD, 16 GB Ram, 1TB HDD, built like a tank and it doesn't have the "gamer laptop" look with all red. I'm spent about 6 months looking at Alienware, Asus, HP, Lenovo, Aorus, Msi, Gigabyte and honestly I'm going with this one. Best part it's 1,499.

ASUS makes some models I think are fine (GL502VM) and some models I don't usually recommend (FX502VM due to poor TN display, GL502VS due to not-great cooling system for its 1070).

MSI makes some great models (GT62VR) and some very poor models (GP62MVR, GL62M, w/ poor TN displays and mediocre build quality). The GT62VR has some of the best cooling for laptops in its targeted market segment, but due to the huge variation over their various product lines I would classify them more as a mixed bag than top-end.

Clevo makes some pretty good models too. Just be sure to get from a good company, such a LPC-Digital. OriginPC is high priced and doesn't really do anything that makes up for that high price service wise. Eluktronics is good for lower prices on the P-series non-G-Sync as well as G-Sync, and for the N850 series since they use 72% NTSC IPS displays not 45% NTSC IPS displays like Sager and Prostar use (unless you call Sager/LPC/Prostar and ask to order with 72% NTSC, which I think they can do).

Well I would definitely recommend the Eluktronics P650HP6-G (1550$).

This laptop is very powerful even slightly more than the Aero 15 but a bit less portable and thin and with a lot less battery life (around 4hrs). The build quality is very good, the exterior is aluminum and the interior feels solid. The positive reviews on Amazon can show it. The display is a special 120hz 5ms response time TN panel which is the best screen a gamer could get on a laptop. It also has a pretty neutral look compared to MSI an ROG's laptop. A very good aspect on this laptop would be the clean Windows 10 installation. It doesn't have any kind of bloatware only the drivers. Also, thermals are very efficient.

    Hope that'll help!

In which ways is it better? I'm curious if the screen is better than this Gigabyte.

Do you know which is better for sRGB? This Gigabyte or this Eluktronics:

Thanks for the link and suggestion.

Not sure if you already purchased your laptop but I just ended up deciding on a Eluktronics P650HP6-G with i7-7700HQ with the GeForce GTX 1060 G-SYNC
They are having a sale right now and they might be worth looking at.

If not the Asus is an excellent option, my roommate just bought the Asus ROG GL502VS-DB71 and he absolutely loves it. He said he's probably going to use it to replace his desktop he built.
Goodluck!:)

I would recommend Eluktronics P650HP6-G VR Ready as it comes with: -

CPU: i7-7700HQ

GPU: GeForce GTX 1060

RAM: 16 GB

Display: FHD 15.6 120Hz G-sync IPS screen

Storage: 256 SSD,1 TB HDD

Poor battery life

It is a great choice because of its great heat management system and high build quality, along with its specifications makes it the best option for your usage and it is within your budget.

I have been using one of these bad boys for about a week now as a replacement at home (i7-4790k / 8gb ddr3 / R9 Fury) and at work (Surface Book i5 6XXX / 8gb ddr4 / GTX 960M) and I gotta say I'm blown away. Here's the video that got me interested, and the Amazon reviews convinced me.

Word to the wise though. Thing isn't an ultrabook. Its a good old 5 lb laptop. That said this thing goes to weekly business meetings with me and puts the spaceship aesthetic of gaming laptops to shame.

1070

1060 with 1080p

4k 1060

Then there is this 1070 that seems the same as the other but it's $50 cheaper?

u/riottaco · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Oh that does look super good! It's pretty much down to this or an Eluktronic...

Specifically this Eluktronic because it looks like an absolute beast. 32GB ram, 2TB HDD, ect.

Edit: Any reason to go with this Eluktronic over the one previously mentioned? It looks worse in every way.

Could get something like this
