At 8 months he's likely shedding his puppy coat. After his adult coat comes in the shedding will probably lessen. Give it a month or two.

Meantime the best tools for keeping on top of shedding are IMO a good metal comb (this is the best one, but expensive), a rubber curry comb (like this), and a cheap knockoff furminator like this.

The curry comb will pull out loose topcoat, while the metal comb and furminator will pull out most of the loose undercoat.

Pro-tip: don't overuse the rubber comb or furminator. Our guideline is no more than 10 minutes with each per grooming session.
