I have these cock rings. They are flat, silicone, and the largest one is big enough to stretch around behind the scrotum. I use the medium sized one to pull the ball sack tight (I place it around the scrotum, just above the testicles). The smallest one I install at the base of penis. If you are not looking to spend a lot, the Get A Grip is my recomendation for new users. You can use it both with and without batteries. Evolved Novelties Get a Grip is pretty amazing, IMO.
It's relatively small, has a built in vibe, fairly cheap, and the handle gives it some great range of motion. You can sit on it and rock forward and put some really good pressure on the prostate.
If he's new to prostate play, this is the way to go. You can use some wiper action and really get a feel for where it is. This is my go-to toy, and I almost never use the vibrator part of it.
The Aneros line is OK, but it's for more advanced and/or subtle play.
