Do what you think will make you want to play more-- within reason of course. A 4x10 cab would probably be a little overkill in your situation. Fender rumbles are great amps for the money. I had the older 75w version and then upgraded to a 150w version, but a 40w might be good enough for your needs

As for headphones-- I like the Sony MDR 7506. They dont look all that special, but theyre industry standard and have a great flat response.
