LPT: Buy a mechanical keyboard. You can remove the keys tops to clean it, and the keys themselves have 10x the amount of keystroke lifetime. Your fingers will also thank you :P

Filco, best thing my hands have ever touched so far.

Lol deja ma uit la terenuri / case de cumparat in Cracovia / Praga. : >
Too bad you don't want a compact, as Woot has DAS 4C's (TKL) in Browns for $89, both pro and ultimate versions. And they claim to be Cherry switches.
There's certainly nothing wrong with Ducky One, their "plain" line. And it's about as standard as they come.
Next to WASD Code or V2 (one has backlight, other does not), there's also the MaxKeyboard Blackbird, also with choices of switches.
A Filco Majestouch 2 w/ brown is $149 on Amazon. No media keys though, should have no backlight either.
You can do much better in terms of gaming keyboard if you get past the usage of LED's and macro keys.
Filco which is a bit higher but top end: http://www.amazon.com/Filco-Majestouch-2-Keyboard-FKBN104M-EB2/dp/B004VKUSG6
Leopold which is cheaper, and better in many regards: http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,fullsize&pid=fc500rcab
Das which is equally priced and better in all regards: http://www.daskeyboard.com/
All three of these choices have the option of picking a switch other than (Blue).
in terms of brand reputation, filco is highly recommended by many keyboard enthusiasts. the TKL version and the one with TK both are cherry mx browns, excellent build quality, but also a bit pricey. The Filcos also come in a style where the the key lettering is printed on the front of the keys instead of the top (TK/TKL).
Another brand that has solid build quality is leopold. simple design, build quality that rivals the filco, mx browns and a removable USB cable.
another popular brand on reddit and in general are the das keyboards. Also not backlit, but like the filco, the build quality's great, though some people don't care for the glossy finish (looks great, but attracts fingerprints like crazy).
if backlighting is important to you, the razer blackwidow has features more suited towards gamers (macro keys, backlighting, earphone/mic jacks, usb port) though the build quality would be arguably better on the first 3.
Using AutoHotkey, you can write a simple script that will give you media keys on any keyboard you want.
The Filco MJ2 is a great keyboard and as long as you're happy with AutoHotkey, it's what I would reccommend.
Browns are what you want if gaming is on the back side, yet you still do it from time to time. It is a great hybrid switch. But if you are looking for a keyboard mostly for academics, why not the Filco Majestouch 2. It is king.
The simplest way to do this is to have boolean variables for all user key actions, like:
boolean movingUp = false;
Set it to true in keyPressed and false in keyReleased. Use it (but never change it) in your draw() function.
I recommend handling ALL inputs like this, not just those that "need" it. (note that you'll need to handle "event-like" keys (fire the weapon) in a different way than "state-like" keys (move up, etc), probably).
Also note! Not all keyboards are perfect. In fact, most keyboards have issues when trying to press more than one key at once because of their hardware layout. It's different on most keyboards. If you have two players, hooking up two keyboards to the computer will solve this problem.
he has it as a flair but here you go Majestouch 2
If you want a more modern keyboard, check out the filco majestouch 2, feels higher quality than das and same relative price. The only issue is if you have a keyboard at work you use, you will hate it.
Put the price aside, a Filco Majestouch-2 will be a premium choice. But the Filco is definitely not a budget board.
Filco. Not cheap however.
The version I have has the numpad. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004VKUSG6
Neither.

[Filco Keyboard] (http://www.amazon.com/Filco-Majestouch-2-Keyboard-FKBN104M-EB2/dp/B004VKUSG6). 3 pounds of pure rage.
Here's an example:
The Filco Majestouch 2 101-key for $3980 TWD, which is $130.43 in USD: http://www.armygroup.com.tw/shop/goods-6588.html
Here's the same thing on Amazon for $160 USD: http://www.amazon.com/Filco-Majestouch-2-Keyboard-FKBN104M-EB2/dp/B004VKUSG6/
Shipping from Taiwan will be more than the US, but not crazy, as I recall.
There are tons of choices for you on this sub, me personally would recommend you a Filco if it isn't out of your budget.

Yup, brown switches. The keycaps are off a Filco Majestouch 2. Same material, higher quality. http://imgur.com/9NVXshx

Depending on if he wants a whole new keyboard, or just a mechanical pad
Im looking for a white fullsize mechanical keyboard (like the Filco Majestouch, but with a white body) with MX brown switches so I can throw my NPKC Rainbow keycap set on and look dope at work with, does anyone know a keyboard like this?
it was 150 from Amazon. I'm sure you can find it on Ebay or get lucky on Craigslist and find it for less.

Backlit keys on a mechanical is very difficult to find with the exception to the Black Widow Line.
Leopold $120
Filco $150
Das $120
those are just some of the popular and larger brands of mechanical keyboards.
One of the major pros of Tenkeyless is that transition between mouse and hand are faster as well as a more "natural" posture because of the space it saves between your mouse and keyboard.
Oh this one looks nice. Thanks for the recommendation. I've been searching a little more and i bumped on these. [Ducky One TKL RGB] (https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1754) and [Filco Majestouch-2] (https://www.amazon.com/Filco-Majestouch-2-Keyboard-FKBN104M-EB2/dp/B004VKUSG6). So I've also changed my decision, it can be TKL as well. It doesn't matter. But honestly I can not see any differences between I don't know, MK Fission and Ducky One TKL or even Filco as for the mechanism, I mean they're all MX Cherry and ABS Keycaps (btw aro those better than PBT?) . So now it all comes to the looks and the design? Plastic or aluminum...
Check out /r/keyboards
They're are different keyboards for different people but most people seem to enjoy the DAS Keyboard. There are other kinds such as the Filco, but the most silent keyboard should be found in the /r/keyboards area.
Oh check out this video for some good information!
