It's an easy fix; I've done it thrice. Unscrew some screws, take out some cables, unstick the old screen from the bezel (SAVE THE ADHESIVE!), restick the new screen, screw back in the screws, and rehook up the cables. Super simple, takes no more than an hour (at most).

I replaced my first gen N7 screen with this - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CBSGYZ4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - really easy, can't even tell it's not the original. Only pain in the ass was the getting the adhesive cut and placed in the correct spots. I've tried unsuccessfully to replace only a digitizer on a phone and it did not go well. Would not recommend.
