These are great to have. Not only in case of emergency but just for if you're walking around and get chilly.
Are you looking for survival stuff or what? I'd also keep some flares, a first aid bag, flashlight, batteries, food, bag of cat litter, any medication you need, change of clothes (I like to pack a pair of thermals), gun, ammo. I don't mean your oper8tor AR15, more like a .22 and 100 rounds of ammo.

Yes, but you need mitts not gloves. I have some fairly good ones (pd about $60 form them) that I also use for x-country and downhill skiing.
You can also get hand warmers that work really well too. I use the foot ones as my boots are not that great and I have bad circulation in my feet.
