3 pairs of nitrile exam gloves ^(^keep ^the ^rest ^of ^the ^box ^at ^home)
cheap trauma shears with bright color handles
emergency trauma bandage
medical tape
4x4 gauze pads
emergency blanket
emt pouch to put all this in

boom there you go

gloves-for protection against blood born pathogens (hiv,hep-c,etc)

exposing wounds- shears, gloves

control bleeding- trauma bandage, gloves, gauze pads

chest seal- trauma bandage wrapper, gloves, medical tape

treating shock- emergency blanket

and if you have taken a cpr class within the last year or two

pocket mask

go take a first aid/cpr-d class, it will be worth it no matter what, even if you think you already know what to do.

While you still have some money, get a PO box so you have a stable mailing address. Safe deposit boxes at the bank are also surprisingly cheap- like $40 for the year and are a good safe place to keep important documents.

Get a space blanket or sleeping bag. They are windproof, waterproof and you will never ever die from exposure while you have one. They also fold into your pocket.
