The KUL ES-87 has that as a DIP switch option, swapping the locations of backspace and \. Even comes with replacement keycaps so the legends will match the DIP settings.

Not a perfect match, but probably good enough. If it's not, and you don't mind a rubberdome the HHKB Lite has arrows on it.

The HHKB Lite 2 is a rubber dome (i.e. membrane) keyboard, not mechanical, which is why it feels so different.

The spacing of the keys on the 60% boards is the same as a fullsize, they just are lacking the extra row of Function keys, 10-key, arrow keys & insert, del, etc (size comparison.)

Now that I'm used to a smaller keyboard, having a full-size makes it feel like my mouse is too far over - different strokes for different folks.

Ah, judging by picture you provided I thought you wanted something a little more involved than just a smaller keyboard.

For compact keyboards, I really like the Happy Hacking Keyboard Lite 2 (Amazon link). Some of the button placement swaps might get to you, though (the ~ key being moved in favor of the ESC key is a common stumbling block for default layouts in games).

Edit: Oops, was mistakenly addressing the OP. I would still recommend the keyboard, though!

And is there any difference with a standard keyboard besides it being smaller ? I really like this and might buy it soon

What about a keyboard more like this? still much smaller but also has arrows, which I now realize I'd rather not do without.

I found this , no f keys, but has arrows.

Edit: I forgot it doesn't have floating keys. Sorry broham

Ha neat. its got two of my interests on one page on Page 2. A radio (DX 9000) and a keyboard (Happy Hacking Keyboard Lite2).

Looking at buying a new mechanical keyboard. I've owned a Corsair K90 for many years nw and have mostly loved it, but I think I would like something a little smaller and more "clicky" when typing.

I've been looking at tenkeyless keyboards with MX blue switches in the $100 $100-150 range. I primarily want to use it as a compact keyboard for typing. I've looked through the wiki and read some reviews but many of them were outdated/for older models. Through my research I found these 3 keyboards:

  • Corsair K65 $69 (Not ideal as it has red switches and is basically a compact version of my current keyboard)
  • Happy Hacking Lite2 $73 (I don't like the non-standard layout)
  • CM Storm Quickfire Rapid-i $99
  • MasterKey Pro S $113 (What's the difference between RGB and White versions?)
  • Code Keyboard $140 (I read the key caps wear out quickly and become glossy.)

Does anyone have suggestions to help convince me one way or maybe even introduce an entirely new option? Thanks!

The Happy Hacking Keyboard (Lite2 here) has the ctrl key to the left and a meta key instead of a Windows key.

Understandable. Here's what I'd recommend. Spend $3-10 dollars at your local Microcenter or comparable computer shop, and try out a cheap membrane keyboard. Doesn't have to be great. What you need to ask yourself once you get it is - does this cheap membrane offer improvement in your speed and accuracy?

If so, then pursue high-quality membrane keyboards. They'll likely still be a fair bit cheaper than mechanical keyboards. Or if you're willing to spend a ton (and seem to favor membrane), then you could consider Topre keyboards. HHKB2 seems to be a favorite. But they start at $225 and go up from there.

Let me know if you make any breakthroughs.

Edit: There are a few other Topre-based keyboards for sale, doesn't have to be HHKB. FYI.
Edit2: For non-Topre, regular membrane, you could potentially check out this option: https://www.amazon.com/Happy-Hacking-Keyboard-Lite2-Black/dp/B0000U1DJ2 but I would recommend the cheap membrane test first.
