The Warmth of Other Suns and Hillbilly Elegy because, in my opinion, they describe the past in way that informs the present social strife that Trump used to divide and conquer to win the Republican primary and general elections. If the Left is going to have a political answer in 2 and 4yrs for the people who either declined to vote altogether or who voted Trump, we have to understand and have compassion for their plight.

Hell's Angels because of Thompson's pinpointed description of the "politics of revenge". And also his book Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 has some parallels to the 2016 election.

It Can't Happen Here is in the same realm as 1984.

I've been looking to pick up a few motorcycle-based books lately. So far I've come up with Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and Hell's Angels: A Strange and Terrible Saga. Are there any other books you guys would recommend?

It's a great read, I highly recommend it.

Edit: I don't care to copy the exact quotes from the book because it'd make a huge wall of text, but Hunter Thompson witnessed gang members gangbanging a young woman fucked up out of her mind on drugs. Several members of the gang admit to him that it's usually a regular occurrence at their parties, and don't seem to think anything of it. This was quite a while ago.

I have no idea why your're getting downvoted for this. Hunter drove on LSD all the time and this post is directly related to Hunter S. Thompson. Not condoning driving while high but people need to know the guy they look up to
