Note that 'through the window' creates two problems.
First, you need to disable the infrared illumination in the camera, as the IR will bounce off the window glass and blind the camera, unless you somehow rigged up a lens hood flush to the glass.
Second, some IP cameras detect motion via scene change and others via a PIR motion detector (this one can be configured to do it either way). A PIR won't work behind a window.
Also, most IP cams can be configured to record continuously or only on motion events (this one can also be confgured to do it either way). Depending on the camera, if may be best to record continuously if shooting through glass. Keep in mind then you need to calculate and plan for how many days of footage you need vs. how much storage is available.

These Hikvision cube cameras are really nice. I have a few at home. 3MP (1440p) resolution, Wi-Fi, 12VDC or PoE powered, Two-way audio, nice IR, indoor only though. We're selling them for $109 on Amazon.
