> "What will it cost? A flagship price is all but guaranteed"

In 2015 I paid $400 for a new Nexus 6.

Before too long I'll need a replacement that will work on Project Fi, and I think that over $600 for a phone is unreasonable, especially with so much competition and how rapidly new models come out.

Look into the Honor 6X because its also $250 but its a newer phone and it has a bigger battery than the Mate S and more RAM than the ZTE. Sure it'll most likely have slow updates but since you're already considering older phones, I don't see how that would be an issue for you.

Edit: Amazon link.

I went with Public Mobile and bought a phone outright. I pay ~$120 every 90 days for 12GB data and unlimited Ontario calling (it's prepaid and the data is spread across the 90 days). I also get some discounts for autopay ($2/month) and referral credits ($1/referral/month), and every year you're with them you get another $1/month off.

I recently had to buy a new phone for my wife (she's on the same plan and her Nexus 5X died), and I ended up with the new Nokia 6. She's had it for about three weeks now and loves it. I had to order it from Amazon.com (US), but it was $229USD + ~$30 duty/tax/shipping. https://www.amazon.com/Nokia-Unlocked-T-Mobile-Exclusive-Lockscreen/dp/B072C2F3X1/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1501766787&sr=1-3&keywords=nokia%2B6&th=1

It looks like the Nokia 6 is out of stock, but the Honor 6X is also pretty well-reviewed and a little cheaper: https://www.amazon.com/Honor-6X-Unlocked-Smartphone-Gray/dp/B01MRZFBBH/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1501766838&sr=1-3&keywords=honor%2B6x&th=1

People also like the Moto G Plus around the same price: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N5MEKSW/ref=br_imp_ara-6?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=detail-ilm&pf_rd_r=YQ900GVEM9A76YQES253&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=3152077502&pf_rd_i=B071VZKDDP&th=1

I've been looking at these three:

Moto G4
Review
16GB + 2GB RAM: $200

Huawei Honor 6x
Review
32GB + 3GB RAM: $250

Asus ZenPhone 3 Laser
32GB + 2GB RAM: $200

GSMArena has some decent reviews of the Moto G4 and the Honor 6x, but don't have a review yet of the ZenPhone 3 Laser and I haven't been able to find a decent in-depth review of the phone.

The [honor 6x] (https://www.amazon.com/Honor-6X-Unlocked-Smartphone-Gray/dp/B01MRZFBBH/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1506014348&sr=1-3&keywords=honor+6x&linkCode=ll1&tag=phones0b87-20&linkId=033bafe2dd379725691cff0632687dd6) would be your best choice here. It has a longer battery life, 4gb ram, decent processor performance and it doesn't have dual sim but a microSD slot with storage up to 256 GB.

u/elvinelmo · 1 pointr/suggestasmartphone

Have a look at the Huawei Honor 6X its one of the best phones at your budget. If you have prime you can also look at the Moto G Plus as it would fall into budget

u/citypanda · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Honor 6X. You might actually like it enough to skip the Pixel 2 (fair warning) and at $225 with Nougat, dual cameras, a gorgeous 5.5-inch screen, incredible battery life, and a lightning-fast fingerprint sensor, it's a bargain. That is—as long as you use AT&T or T-Mobile.

It's available on Amazon here.

Contrary to what is being said here, I don't think you need to get something as cheap as a flip phone to stay afloat.

You're 23 and in college; unless you're the type of person to avoid smartphone apps entirely, you're going to want to have a smartphone.

But it doesn't need to be an iPhone. Take this Huawei phone for example. $179 with dual cameras, 32gb of storage and a fingerprint scanner.

It's worth asking if you really need to upgrade though. You say the camera is "bad" but how bad? Is it cracked or broken in anyway? Or is the quality just subpar to that of newer devices? Are you a photographer? Do you need a good camera?

As for the battery, you could always pick up a portable charger to keep in your backpack. This Anker one can supposedly charge your phone up to 10 times on a single charge. Sure it's cumbersome, but it's a cheap fix for your battery problem if you're already carrying around a backpack for school. You could always opt for a smaller one if you have a smaller bag.

Consider if this upgrade is a need or a want. If you're on a budget you're going to want to hold on to your most expensive items for as long as you can.

Hey so the honor 6X is currently 150 exactly for black friday

edit: i forgot to mention this is a very good speced phone for the price, with dual cameras even

u/Alazeel · 1 pointr/PickAnAndroidForMe

What would you think between the moto4g and the honor honor 6x? From what I gathered the 6x is a little more powerful but Huawei is pretty bad about updates.

Thoughts on this..? $150 new

That's hilarious, because I wouldn't even play 1440p on my PC. . . Kills the framerate so much x_x
