I used hearing protectors, cost around $19. Once you get use to them you will get great sleep. Thinner is better. Also a pillow with lots of give and heft so the protector does not "bottom" out.

What about using a combination?

When doing extended work in my very noisy server room with a 10Ton AC Air handler, heres what i use.

I plug in my preferred in ear headphones, and over those I put on industrial noise blockers ($13)

The regular in ear headphones will give you a decent reduction in outside DB, and the industrial protection gives you another 25db reduction, and from what i recall, its exponential not a simple addition of the two db reductions.

Itll probably beat any all-in-one combination you can find in performance, sound quality and price.
