The two I see getting recommend the most around the sub since the op6 tempered glass protector went out of stock are:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JYL9RLK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D4NZXP5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Due to the curved edge of the screen, it's hard to install them without any air bubbles but they provide better protection. I recommend using the one that came pre-installed until it gets damaged

EDIT: additionally glass screen protectors could be incompatible with your case which is why I was asking

I've tried over ten different screen protectors on the OP6. The two I highly recommend

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JYL9RLK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The first protector listed has a guide which helps. Additionally, it's easier to align in general since the notch section has precise cut outs for the camera.

The second protector (Orzly) I've also had great results with.

It's important to remember that the most important part of installing a screen protector is the preparation. You will be hard pressed to find any protector (that isn't manipulated reviews) with five stars.

If you have but one spec of dust on the screen when you install it then you will not be satisfied. Clean the screen and your hands, and then do it again and again.

Make sure you have compressed air, and blow it off. Wait a little bit, if no obvious particles manage to settle back down, give it one more quick blow and apply. For most people, especially pet owners, the best place to install is in your bathroom. Prior to installation, clean your bathroom thoroughly, remove all rugs, and some people like to steam it up with their shower.

I really like the installation guide for the first protector, and the fact that the notch section is not just one cut out. I was using the Orzly previously. No complaints whatsoever about the Orzly one either. Both installed perfectly, and the only difference is the installation bracket with the first one is pretty nice.

TLDR: Most tempered glass protectors are sufficient. Generally, most problems are from the installer not the protector.

I've tried

  • no rainbow and no white gap around the edge. It worked well with my first-party kevlar (or whatever) case from OP, as well as the in-box silicone. Sadly, I broke the first one pulling it out of my pocket (it wasn't the *best* install and it caught on my pocket), and the 2nd one went on *much* better, but I wasn't as good on the dust cleanup so it had to come off. It was out of stock when I went to re-order, so looked for something else.

  • This had awful rainbow. Went on easily enough, kit was okay. Rainbow was atrocious, and I had an edging of white around two big spots. In addition, it seemed to have almost no real adhesive, so it pulled right off. They were sent back as defective to Amazon.

  • I ran across these on XDA and decided to give them a shot even though the Omoton are back in stock. It comes with the mounting kit, which I loved when working on my wife's iPhone Xr. I haven't yet received them, should be here Saturday.

If you need one quick, the Omoton worked well and were, I think, small enough that you can use something along the lines of a Spigen case without it having any issues. I doubt it would work with anything more than that as they encroach on the screen too much. It had no rainbow and had a curved edge, so it wasn't so rough using navigation gestures.

Will update one I get the Ibywind. Though, it looks like they're out of stock (again).

I've tried just about every TGSP and wet/dry PET film protector for the OP6. Most of them either have adhesion issues, halo effects or don't cover the whole screen.

The best non-OEM protector I've used is this:
https://www.amazon.com/Ibywind-Protector-Coverage-Tempered-Protectors/dp/B07JYL9RLK/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1549902547&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=ibywind+oneplus+6+screen+protector&dpPl=1&dpID=41zZWs0uJJL&ref=plSrch

Yes, it has black borders, but it covers nearly all of the front glass while blocking almost none of the usable screen. At most it encroaches on the usuable portion of the screen by 0.10-0.15mm on the sides if applied correctly.

The only drawbacks I've seen are:

  1. it's relatively heavy so it adds some heft to the phone
  2. it doesn't have protective film on the FRONT of the protectors, so I saw a few micro nicks out of the box - something that will likely happen after a month of use anyway
  3. it's not as good as Oneplus' OEM protector, but it is way cheaper
