unless you are totally opposed to the idea. You can fix yourself. There are tons of guides online that show step by step on how to change the digitizer.
It will probably take about an hour the first time you do it. Just make sure you buy a package that comes with the right tools. Here is an example of one (haven't used this one personally.)
I've done several iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S screens from iCracked (Amazon link for the iPhone 5 screen here).
It comes complete with tools needed, you need to be patient though and it is easier after the first time. The YouTube videos they have were really helpful, being able to step through the process.
