This is an i7 processor. Just saying "i7" doesn't mean jack shit. Being an i7 doesn't make it good. It depends on the model.

There is very little to no difference when it comes to gaming between the i7s and the i5s. i7s are better for photo/video editing and other stuff, but the difference between them are negligable when it comes to gaming.

My 390 pretty far outclasses the 5850.

Thanks for the advice. I'm also looking at getting a better cpu, and I hear quad core Intel cpu's outperform higher cored amd makes. What do you think of this i7?
