What's your budget?

One really cheap way for just direct pass that I think would work is using an adapter like below. Then use an SFF-8643 to 4x SATA cable. But there's definitely alternative used & cheap HBA's on eBay but I don't know them myself.

Well I decided to go for this. Used this cable to connect the cage to my LSI 9300-8i adapter. So far so good. I'm running a single ST8000NM0065 drive, but will eventually add a second in a ZFS mirror.

My motherboard has a 32Gbps M.2 slot that I have no use for.

I would also like to add more SATA devices.
