If you aren't opposed to piracy, it's pretty easy to find any DAW around the interwebz. Also, check out korg's nano series, pretty inexpensive midi controller if you're just looking to get your foot in the door. Although, lately I've been writing music via mouse. For some reason I have a hard time focusing with midi instruments.

Someone mentioned Live, and combined with pretty much any trigger/sample pad with midi out.

Again, both /u/i_am_really_a_robot and myself understand your situation pretty clearly. I will stand by my opinion that you are making things far more complicated for no reason. I'm a rabid post-rock fan, and play post-rock myself solo. The transitions you're talking about would require intimate timing of the song, and not the crutch of hitting a pad to trigger your track while everyone is "ready." You COULD do it with a backing track, and there really isn't any reason why you should have to use something to trigger individual tracks.

I certainly don't mean ANY of this in a mean way. I don't mean simple as in "duh, so simple." Just that I think you could get away with something a bit easier. That said, I'm sure you could pull off the samples, and achieve what you want too.

It seems silly to spend... $600-1000 on Ableton Live + $50-100 on a trigger interface... when you could just export the song for free.

Are you looking for something to complement your current DJ software?

If you're using Serato/Serato DJ you could get a MIDI controller ranging from this to this.

For Traktor, there's lots of native instruments controllers, for example, this.
