MSI GL63 ($667.76)- 15.6", i5-8300H, GTX 1050, 8GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe SSD.

ASUS FX504 ($805.00) - 15.6", i7-8750H, GeForce 1050 Ti, 8GB RAM, 256 M.2 SSD.

Acer Predator Helios 300 ($829.99) - 15.6" 144Hz screen, i7-8750H, GTX 1060, 16GB RAM, 256 NVMe SSD.

Lenovo IdeaPad L340 ($850) - 15.6", i7-9750H, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD & 256GB NVMe SSD, GTX 1050.

Keep in mind budget gaming laptops aren't really portable (personal experience lol). Also you really just pay for what you get, but hopefully these might help! Given smaller storage on most of these, if you do go with one of them, I recommend getting an external HDD (hard drive disk, standard and slower than SSD, cheaper) or SSD (solid state drive, runs way faster, more expensive).

> Quick amazon search got me the MSI GF75 for $1,000 CAD - 16GBRAM(?!), good GPU

That seems like a steal. If you're interested in 15" laptops, here are two options within your range to consider:

  1. Lenovo L340 Gaming - Intel Core i7-9750H, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD, GTX 1650. CDN $1,200.

  2. ASUS ROG - Intel Core i7-9750H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, GTX 1650. CDN $1,400.

2D Unity doesn't really take anything out on your computer, it is mostly 3D which requires heavy hardware. Try looking for an ultrabook with:

6 core CPU(Can get away with 4, better to have more than necessary, will give elbow room to run something in the background like Chrome)

A GTX 1050-60 or the more modern 1650-60(If you are a gamer, else you can go with something from the MX series)

16GB of RAM(Don't skimp over this, Visual Studio will make your life hell)

1-2TB Drive(Pretty standard)

IPS 1080p Panel(Good for testing your game, make sure has alright colour gamut)

Here's one I found with could be good(This one may need to be bought with an extra drive, as it only has nvME of 256GB.Also add extra 8GB RAM) (A bit overkill and expensive, but that's how I roll):
https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GL63-8SC-059-i7-8750H-GeForce/dp/B07R6B94C7/ref=mp_s_a_1_10_sspa?keywords=gtx+1050+laptop&qid=1570587236&sr=8-10-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFUQTdTODVHS0haMFImZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA3MjA4MjkzUExSUVNSWklEVVpNJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAxMjIxNDA1S1k4Wlo0S0NBTUYmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfbXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

Here's another:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07R6XPYKB/ref=sspa_mw_detail_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This one may need to be bought with an extra drive, as it only has nvME of 256GB. Also add 8GB extra RAM

While at it, consider buying a Dell G3, which is also a good value.

Consider, if you may, the desktop option. They come cheaper and you can build them yourself, hence more customisation options. Send any questions if you have them!

Hello, the The Acer Helios 300 would be a very nice buy with the budget you have, if you are willing to spend another 50 bucks. if not, you should definitely check out this Lenovo IdeaPad L340. it comes with pretty much all you are looking for where screen and weight are concerned and its even below your budget.

For a professional look the Lenovo IdeaPad L340 Gaming Laptop, 15.6-Inch FHD (1920 X 1080) IPS Display, Intel Core i7-9750H Processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB HDD, 256GB NVMe SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050, Windows 10, 81LK000EUS, Black would be the way to go. It has a very clean look that does not scream gamer, low weight and lots of gaming power especially for the games you listed. It has a fast SSD as well as a large HDD so you get the best of both worlds.

Found this great deal on Amazon. 9750H processor, 256 SSD, 1TB HDD, GTX 1050. $880. You can upgrade the secondary HDD to ask SSD in the future.

Edit: You do get less RAM (8GB) here, but you can buy RAM yourself anyway.
