Sometimes I break the floss, but not often. I position the floss string and literally bite it down (gradually) in between my teeth. It's the only way I can floss.
Maybe this could help you?
I’d think with the floss spool that a design like this, or this would do better because you wouldn’t have to hold the handle and spool to the side. You could make it long enough to be out of the way.
