Unfortunately, even as someone who would rather avoid calling customer service, once you open a dozen cards every year and start booking award travel you're bound to have to call once in a while and spend time on hold.

The trick is this coupled with Hangouts so you can do laundry or whatever while on hold. Bonus points if you use Google Voice as your main phone number so that calls from Hangouts on your computer appear to come from your phone number on file (for ID purposes).

I'm honestly torn about it. While I like having the 3.5mm jack available, I basically don't use it at this point. At work, I have a Logitech H800 headset, which I use with in RF mode from my laptop and Bluetooth from my phone. In my car, I use Bluetooth. At home, I have 4 Chromecast Audios + a Google Home, which I've got organized into various groups depending on what I'm doing. And I have a pair of Bluetooth earbuds for miscellaneous use. All of them work flawlessly with my Pixel, and none of them are a burden to use at all. Yes there's a slightly increased initial setup time for the first pairing, but now I just power on my headphones or start my car and it pairs with my phone automatically.

The only irritation I have is that Audible doesn't have built-in Chromecast support, so I have to cast my phone's audio to the speakers. But for the benefit of having roughly the same volume everywhere at home and the ability to keep my phone in my pocket while listening, that's more than worth the trade-off over the 3.5mm jack.

I just purchased a Sennheiser RS120 after Christmas. I'm really struggling to not return it.

Hear me out: the sound on this headset is pretty damn amazing. However, for some reason, it just can't handle lows. I really don't know why - I've equalized it to no end and the headset just can't do it.

It's analog by the way, not digital. The volume control goes higher than it should, by maybe 10%, so on certain sources it results in crackling.

I've tested this and the Sennheiser on my new PS3 super slim to no end. The Sony knocks it out of the water.

Why is this a thing? Why is wireless so fucking hard for audio?

It kind of disgusts me; I've tried to find wireless audio solutions so hard in the past 2 years. I used the Logitech H800 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005GTNZUM/) for a year and a half, but the headset is made with ridiculously cheap materials. The micro USB port is a point of failure, and my latest set just had the right ear audio fade, which is apparently a common issue. Oh - by the way I've RMA'd the headset twice. I loved it when it worked, though!

At this point I'm willing to say fuck it. It's so atrociously and stupidly difficult to find a reliable wireless audio headset that making a bridge for analog signal, via a preamp that's wireless or an adapter that connects the signal via Bluetooth, is the way to go.

This shouldn't be a thing. Wireless technology has far surpassed the need for independent and proprietary audio devices that utilize wireless connections.

I hope Sennheiser creates something that knocks the rest of the industry out of the water, because one thing is for sure - the industry is not fucking trying.

That's why I only read the "one star" reviews. You'll be surprised on what "little things" don't get mentioned on the Amazon product page.

My latest example was when I wanted to buy Logitech wireless H800 headphones, but they forgot to mention the crappy 4-6 hour battery life, in addition to the 3 hour charge time. Those headphone are literally worthless for playing games on your PC since you would literally have to go through 3 sets of batteries in one play session.

Of course, some 1 star reviews are literally crap, so you need to develop your "online BS filter" skills.

If you are going "old-school" with a microphone like that, then at least use an "articulated arm" microphone stand to place and keep the microphone in a proper position close to your mouth. And clamp you head in a position to maintain the position of the microphone vs. your mouth.

I would rather use a mic that stays in the right place as I move around. I really like my Logitech H800 Bluetooth wireless headset with mic. I have one at home, one in my car, and one in the office.

The Logitech H800 is an option - it is both proprietary wireless, with USB dongle, and has bluetooth option (dont use bluetooth). It is "on ear" rather than "over ear"

Not sure if you have any requirements but I love these for wireless headset on a computer. I can't stand the ones that cup your ear and block out the world but some people like those. Regardless I think Logitech is a solid brand you can look at and not too pricey. It isn't high end but it does the job.

I was going to recommend the Logitech H800, as it is what I use all the time for meetings and chat. All day every day, been going strong for over a year and a half now. But then I looked it up online and I had no idea it was so expensive since it honestly feels kinda cheap. Anyway, I'd still recommend this if you're looking for just a chat headset because the audio quality is quite poor for music, but only if you have some extra cash to drop. I just have game audio come out of my stereo while using this in the PS4 parties. It has bluetooth (which you have to Google in order to enable it), but it doesn't work with the PS4. The USB dongle works fine, though.
