"literally impossible to turn the switch on or off... " is an exaggeration (just need a screw driver), but it would slow them down.
Maybe add some screws for the switch plate that has a non-standard head that a thief isn't likely to have one them.

My power button is on the top of my case and I put one of these over it to prevent the cat from turning it off. Works great.
