MCT OIL SOURCED FROM COCONUTS: Not only is our MCT Oil from the highest quality source possible, it's also as fresh as possible. Unlike other MCT Oil's our product does not sit in warehouses for months. We buy direct from our supplier, as it comes off the line. This ensures the freshest MCT Oil possible. If you're new MCT oil, to avoid stomach discomfort start with 1/2 tsp and work up to a full serving size.EASIER ON THE STOMACH: What makes our product superior? It's harvested from coconuts, not palm oil. It's delivered to us fresh from production (not sitting in a warehouse for months), it doesn't contain C12. It's third party tested. All of which leads to less consumers experiencing stomach discomfort.PURE C8 / C10: Our blend is a 60 / 40 split of C8 and C10. C12 (a common fatty acid found in MCT Oil) behaves like a long chain triglyceride, it has no place in MCT (Medium Chain Triglyceride) Oil. What makes medium chain fatty acids unique is they are delivered to the liver and broken down for energy.Unlike other small independent sellers of MCT oil we buy in large enough volumes to secure the highest quality oil for the best price. And unlike bigger brands we don't have inflated overheads and we don't sell to third party retailers. This all means we can offer better pricing on the highest quality oil.NEW TO MCT? FYI (and maybe this should be in teh FAQ?) MCT stands for "medium-chain triglyceride" which is a chemical description of a class of oils, primarily found in palm kernel oil and coconut oil. Follow the link for comments on the health implications.

You can buy MCT oil by the bottle and people do, in order to mix it into a product like Keto Fuel or Chow in order to raise the calories without adding either carbs or oils considered "bad" like corn oil.

However you can also make an oil into a powder by just mixing the oil with something that is an edible powder. Google "oil powder" and you find lots of recipes for making olive oil powder, for example, and these all use either tapioca powder or pure maltodextrin. But that would not be what Aussielent did because those powders are sugars, i.e. carbs, i.e. not what you want in a keto mix! Dunno what Aussielent used, it just says "MCT powder", but here is an MCT oil powder in which the powder component is "soluble corn fiber, sodium caseinate, sunflower lechitin[sic]".

Sweet potatoes and yams are pretty starchy, so in large enough quantities, they will keep you out of ketosis.

Coconut oil is naturally high in lauric acid, (aka C12 because it has 12 carbon bonds). There are small amounts of capric acid (C8) and caprylic acid (C10). C12 is technically an MCT (medium chain triglyceride), but it has to be processed by your liver while C8 and C10 bypass that step. MCT oil is just the latter two acids, making it a more efficient form of fuel than coconut oil. You should definitely feel the difference in your morning coffee.

If you shop around, you can get MCT oil for reasonable prices. Amazon sells Left Coast for $21, and there's Viva Labs for $18. The latter is sourced from palm fruit instead of coconuts, but at this level of refinement, it doesn't matter. It would be like arguing over which country produces the best gasoline. It has no effect on your car's engine :).

Since these bottles have 32 ounces of fluid, that's actually a pretty decent price. Most retail jars of coconut oil are 16 ounces, so although they're cheaper, they also have half the oil (and a fraction of the C8 and C10).

I recently started ingesting MCT oil. While it may be a placebo effect, I really do feel more energized utilizing 1 TBPS a day.

Picked up the top rated stuff from Amazon (Left Coast MCT Oil - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QL083S4).

that’s becaus live resin does not mix with mct oil. pyur thinner is 100% mct oil. look up the two ingredients on google. it’s one big scam.

pyur thinner sds/ingredients

it was clearly doneto confuse new people. n-octanoic acid and 1-nonanecarboxylic acid are just mct oil. nothing else. search it yourself. those chemicals also do not exist in hemp oil (scroll to pg4)

see where it says “carbon length” 8 and 10. that means c8 and c10 which = mct oil. c8 and c10 don’t even exist in hemp oil so there is 0 way it’s really derived from hemp. c8 and c10 are capric + caprylic acid aka saturated fats. hemp oil is such a big health food because it’s allll unsaturated fats and in the teeny tiny amount of saturated fats that hemp does produce there is only stearic acid (c18) and palmic acid (c16). no caprylic or capric acid (c8+c10 aka pyur thinner). so 1 there’s NO WAY IT EVEN COMES FROM HEMP and 2 it’s stilljust 100% mct oil.

Lets see... I've tried quite a few, but certainly not all of them. I remember these 4 specifically.

Mickey T Pure Caprylic Acid - I don't like that it uses some palm kernel oil. I really like it, but I'm only on my first bottle. Little to no taste.

Nature's Way Coconut Oil - Only 94% MCT if I recall correctly (nonissue for me). Tastes good, like mild coconut.

Sports Research - Quality, but it has a slight chemically chloride aftertaste.

Burried Treasure - Stay away. Significant consistency/quality issues across 4 different bottles (3 from Amazon and 1 from Central Market). 1 had little to no flavor, 3 had a similar chemically chloride aftertaste.

I'll next try one of these two:

one, two

I haven't tried any of the Bulletproof stuff and don't intend to.

Thanks so much. Is it this one?
Btw, how did you know that it doesn't have C12?

u/redeyemaster · 1 pointr/keto

I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QL083S4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

But really just a good mix of the capric acids is best, so whatever one you prefer rich in c8 / c10

u/fergusoncommaturd · 1 pointr/keto

I've been using this one but I have no idea if it's any better or worse than any others.

I wanted to get some feedback on this nutrition shake I came up with. I've been drinking it almost on a daily basis for about a year now. I usually have it for breakfast or after I workout. My goal was to make a high calorie, high protein meal that was low in sugar. Let me know what you think.

No smell, no lauric acid, plus it comes in a huge bottle.

I like the Left Coast Performance brand.

https://www.amazon.com/Left-Coast-Performance-Coconut-MCT/dp/B00QL083S4/ref=sr_1_6_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1473776537&sr=1-6&keywords=MCT+oil

It's got the right Medium-Chain Triglycerides in good amounts (Caprylic/C8:0, and Capric/C10:0) and it's one of the cheaper brands. Absolutely tasteless, good consistency, and it lasts a long ass time.

Bread adds up fast, so maybe cut it out of one of your meals? Also if you drink coffee a few table spoons of MCT oil can help you up your fat. This is what I use.
Also almonds or any other nuts can help you up the fat, and also help you cut down on the carbs for a snack.

I just started a week or so ago. I started with 1 tbsp and continued that for about three days, then upped it to 2 tbsp. I also put in 2 tbsp of butter and about 2-3 tbsp of half and half.

This is the product I use: https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Coconut-Digest-Filtered-Independent/dp/B00QL083S4

I recommend it! It's decently priced, and it has no taste. I originally used coconut oil but got tired of the taste in my coffee.
