The most believable part of MetaGame is that humans would define a minimum DNA span distance from human DNA that defines something as not-human and therefore eligible to be property.

Almost all of the unknown books I've borrowed have been just okay, to be honest. Probably the only book I've never heard of that was surprisingly very good is Metagame. It was an odd reading experience. I started off not liking it (it portrays a really goofy future). Then it became a page turner as the story picked up, and I thought it was a good "summer" read. Then the ending was really creative and emotionally pulling. It's an excellent book, if maybe not for everyone's taste with it's weird futuristic setting.

There are also some well known and successful books that I wouldn't have read if they weren't free. Water for Elephants is something I thought would just be a "chick flick" type of story. I never would have given it a chance if it wasn't free and had 3,500 positive reviews. It's a very good book, and not written just for females at all.

The entire Harry Potter series is on the lending library. I'm considering giving it a chance even though I don't know whether it can appeal to an adult male. Ditto the Hunger games series. Expanding your horizons and challenging your expectations can give you good surprises without having to sift through unknown books. Doing both, reading is a completely different experience since I got Amazon prime.

MetaGame by Sam Landstrom is similar to Ready Player One. It is self-published but one of the best I have read.

Sounds like the book Metagame.

This video reminded strongly of a book I read a few years back called MetaGame where people pretty much work and live in augmented reality earning points to buy bigger and better cosmetics and earn better gigs.

Metagame by Sam Landstrom read a lot like Ready Player One.
