Two Words: Mini-Habits

A friend of mine has been writing a personal development blog http://deepexistence.com/ for years, and lately he's been all about the idea of mini-habits. Starting so small that you cannot possibly fail, but completing this microscopic requirement every single day, no excuses, period.

I've been employing his strategy for 98 days now, and in that time have managed to publish several short works. I have also meditated, exercised, and read, every day.

I highly recommend the book he wrote on the topic:

You could try mini habits https://minihabits.com/mini-habit-ideas/ it's what got me started. Maybe you could get the book too if you want https://www.amazon.com/dp/1494882272/

I use to do nothing really until I started applying mini habits, it is better to do something rather than nothing.

If someone is welling to help you financially or if you're covered insurance wise under someone maybe finding a therapist could work too. With your perfectionism, fear of failure, social troubles at school, low mood, lethargy and other issues.

this book might help - https://smile.amazon.com/Mini-Habits-Smaller-Bigger-Results/dp/1494882272/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1522095169&sr=8-3&keywords=mini+habits. it's a short, easy read. you could probably get similar information via google or youtube if you search "how to build a habit" or something like that

You sound like you are overwhelming yourself with options which typically will cause paralysis in even the most focused individual. You need to start small and not worry about all the rest of the stuff (I know, easier said than done).

If you want to skim through another book, I would recommend mini habits, it is a quick read with a lot of obvious, yet insightful information on how to get the ball rolling. If you don't want to waste your time here is the gist... pick two or three things you want to face or deal with on a daily basis. Write down laughably easy tasks to do each day, for instance if you are afraid of going outside make your goal to be to walk to the end of your driveway each day (or even place your foot out the front door). If you do more than this, that is good too, but if you only manage to do this easy task it is still a victory. Celebrate these victories, and recognize that you have done these small habits every day now for two days, five days, a month, etc. This will passively build a subtle confidence in your brain that says 'all I need to do is x, and x is easy.' Adjust these habits accordingly, and make sure to never increase the difficulty to a level that you could not complete even if the daily grind is against you. Slowly, you will add more habits and 'finish' others, making your victories even sweeter. Feel free to PM me if you have questions, but hopefully this should get the ball rolling for you :)

Sorry. Here are some resources and stuff I've come across that may or may not be helpful. I'm not a therapist or anything, and I don't know what you are going through, and I know you haven't asked for help, but I have had a little anxiety and depression before and it sucked it so I want to put these out there in case it does.

Someone posted these on reddit and people seemed to like them

I heard this book and this book were insightful

meditation, maybe try an app/website called headspace (there are apps/websites too), ucla website, or youtube

exercise, even if its only a walk outside. on the other hand, throwing some iron around might feel good too. I could offer some advice if you wanted, or try r/fitness or something

sleep schedule, go to bed and wake up at the same time and have a bed time routine

maybe check out jordan peterson, he's popular right now. I have no idea how legit he is, but people seem to find him insightful

anyways, sorry for getting into your business
