I have these USB lights, you can make a bright night-light with them. I also keep one with my USB battery bank so I have emergency light if needed.
I don't have a pic of my setup but it looks similar to this. I like it when watching SDR content, but when I'm watching HDR I'll unplug the light strip. It helps illuminate the room when we are hanging out, but doesn't produce any strong points of glare because the light is behind the TV
I'm using a usb LED light strip I got on amazon. I don't remember the specific one I have, but something like this would do. If you don't want the light splashing around the screen and just want an indicator light you could get something like this that has a tiny amount of LEDs on it and get a USB extension cable and route it to wherever you would like just as a simple indicator light.
I really dig key chain/USB led's, these plug right into my power brick. dropped in a small white DCF stuff sack and hung.
