I only carbonate water in mine and then add flavoring to the carbonated water. My favorite flavors to use are strawberry watermelon mio and monin cola syrup.
I also make carbonated cocktails sometimes. One that goes over well is a sparkling blue martini using blue raspberry martini mix, vodka, and carbonated water. I think we did one part vodka, two parts blue raspberry mix, and three parts carbonated water, but I am not certain on that.
