If you're using a Singer, you can use any jersey/ballpoint needle in the appropriate size for your fabric. I buy Organ needles in bulk from Amazon because I make a lot of knit daywear and like to have backups in case something breaks mid-project.
For non-stretch wovens, I use Schmetz universal needles, which I also buy in large quantities on amazon.
I say this because needles can be more expensive than people suspect, particularly if you're just getting accustomed to your machine or a particular fabric type, and because they should be changed more regularly than most people think in order to keep your fabric from snagging or running. If you plan to do any kind of regular sewing, get a good needle stash going.
