I can just lash the skis to the roof with bungies or tie-downs.
I think the fork mount racks are generally considered 'more sturdy'. That said, I love my setup and the convenience of not having to take the front wheel off. Subaru Crossbars, Inno Rack , and Fairing. On a 2011 WRX sedan.
