Most people are saying things like cases and screen protectors, but there are a few practical things that I couldn't live without now that I have them.

• Wrist Strap: I love being able to actually hold on to my device and quickly get it out of my pocket. I've also read stories on this sub of someone trying to steal his 3DS OUT OF HIS HANDS and run away, but he had a strap so it didn't work.
  
  
• 3DS XL Charge Cradle: This may just be because I have a hard-on for docks and cradles. I have a car mount for my phone, one for my phone at home to charge, one for my 3DS, one for my Vita, for my PS4 controllers....you get the deal. I love being able to quickly drop something down and it charges. Cannot recommend enough.
  
  
• 3DS USB Charge Cable: You never know when you want to charge your device, and when traveling it is a godsend. This way you can use the power brick you brought with you for the same as USB charging your phone. That way your regular 3DS charger can be used in that dock I showed earlier...
  
  Also, the 3DS game card cases other people have put on here. Just any one will be fine, so you can put all the cases on a shelf but you have easy access to them later. I put my disc games in a binder for the same reason.

Get a quote from Nintendo if you want real prices, but if you want to do it yourself: A new shell is ~$10-15. A new motherboard is ~$40. A new charging port. ~$10.

If you can live with #1 and #2, you can buy a charging station that doesn't use the port to charge. You just plop the 3ds on the plate and it uses the contacts on the back to charge, instead of the port.

Ok look at your power connector. See those two gold plates on either side of it, those were meant to use a 3ds chargeing dock, instead of using the nyko option which sperate is about 60 bucks you can get a 3ds charging dock for much cheaper. My guess is while your connector is messed up from wear and tear those two pins will still charge the device because internally nothing is wrong. Let me link you to one of these docks now,

Like i said i think your connector broke, but the pins should still work. Try this.

For memory you can get any microsd card. Buy from well known brands like Sandisk, Samsung, etc. But be careful if you buy online, there are some fakes up for sale.

I haven't used a charging station but I found this one on Amazon.

Here is a replacement charger port for 3 bucks if you're feeling scrappy enough to replace it yourself. You could also use the original 3ds charging dock, I am 99% sure you don't need the charge port to charge with that, link to Amazon below for 6 bucks USD.
