I use this . It does good for me but will probably get a nicer one for my anniversary.

You could get a regulator for your compressor to control psi.

I am new to this stuff but I really like to airbrush :-)

Also...make sure you're using a good regulator/moisture trap like this https://www.amazon.com/Paasche-R-75-Regulator-Moisture-Trap/dp/B000BR2STI

Fit a regulator/moisture trap to your compressor, like this one. Read the reviews, someone mentions they fit it on a Paasche D50, and where to get couplings from a hardware store incase you need them.

An Airbrush, read up on them, there are lots out there.
A pressure regulator and moisture trap
and whatever fittings you will need to make it all work together from your air compressor

Good luck and welcome to the addiction.

Also, /r/airbrushing is also a great resource if you are starting out.

I did quite a bit of research before buying a compressor, and I will say that this is probably the best one you can get for that price in terms of performance and loudness. You can spring for one of the quiet Iwata compressors, but those will cost quite a bit. The cheap piston style ones you see on amazon tend to lack and airtank and if they do have one, it isn't large enough to keep the motor from running every few minutes. This will also burn out the motor in no time.

I bought a cheaper pancake style before the California Tools compressor and it was just too loud for use comfortably in my house. Like, I could hear and feel the vibrations two floors down in the garage. It was insane.

Although the California Tools is rated as Ultra Quiet, it is by no means whisper quiet. It will be loud, but not deafening in your room while the tank loads. I can hear a faint rumble in the rooms down the hall, but not enough to wake anybody up from their sleep. One floor down you can barely hear it.

It is quiet enough for my household and the tank is large enough to let me airbrush consistently for 20 - 30min before needing to refill. The compressor fills the tank insanely fast though, from empty to full in around 2 min! So the noise isn't a huge issue really.

You can adjust it down to 15 psi but I have my compressor hooked up to a moisture filter/regulator. This one here:

You'll need to get some sort of moisture filter and the seperate regulator will help you get a much more accurate PSI level. The built-in ones on compressors aren't the most accurate from what I've read.

Hope that helps!

Edit: I will add that if you're going to be ordering from Amazon, talk to one of their customer service reps about the compressor's return policy. The item, at least in Canada, did not qualify for free returns/exchange. I talked to the rep about needing to try the compressor out to make sure it fits my need and they agreed to let me try it, and if needed, return it free of charge.
