I used to have a component to HDMI adapter and it was honestly terrible. Bad picture and used to cut out for a few seconds regularly. I just upgraded to a different brand of wii2hdmi and it works wonderfully. The picture is noticeably better and doesn’t cut out. It has the audio port even though it is not needed since he sound goes through hdmi. I honestly couldn’t be happier with this purchase

So what they mean is, the device just converts the analog 480p to a digital 480p signal, so no upscaling.

Note that I'm personally more of an advocate for generic adapters (component/YPbPr to hdmi) instead of the Wii specific ones, since they are compatible with other consoles as well. This is what I use.
Dude, if you have the money, get a Wii modded for HDMI support, or do it yourself. (The HDMI mod is Wii Dual.) If not, get a Wii to HDMI adapter like this one. I believe you can't get the files off the wii. And yes for the last question, you just need a classic controller to move the cursor.
