These things work great. Never been unable to open a jar since I got some.
So, here are some really practical things I like to do as gifts, because they're things people don't really think about, but when you don't have them... so annoying!
Add a bottle of wine, cuz the rest of this shit is boring af.
I got this set of jar grips a couple Christmases back. NOTHING CAN STOP ME NOW.
You need some of these: https://www.amazon.com/Piece-Flexible-Jar-Opener-Set/dp/B0000CF3MP
The really thin sheet ones like these work the best and there is a good chance you have some in a junk drawer already.
Anything where you have to stick something to the battery is a waste of time and money.
The silicone pad you linked is prolly best. But obviously they're out of stock.
Something you can try are those rubber gripper things people use to open jars.

Cut to size and stick on with double side tape.
Double that with the right kind of strap and you're golden.
I just like these grip things. You can get them for free as merchandise sometimes.
They're not hard at all if you have this. The funky cone-shaped rubber jar grip is one of the most useful things that I own. I can open just about any jar with it.
I use jar grippers to get jars open or else it's just not going to happen.

i use a rubber jar grip to help tighten them on.
learned that from someone who uses them on a ChiaGoo interchangeable set. I use it on my KnitPicks interchangeable now too.
Do you know those rubber things to open jar lids? I use them to grip my motors. Work perfectly. I believe a rubber band would have the same affect. http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Flexible-Jar-Openers-Set/dp/B0000CF3MP
I have tried pliers. I was afraid i was flexing the bell housing too much. I could hear the glue crunching.
When I owned a Subtank I had this same problem. I used a rubber jar/bottle opener to get a better grip and managed to get it open, something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Flexible-Jar-Openers-Set/dp/B0000CF3MP
If you have a cloth mousemat with a rubber backing that should work too. I hope you can get it open!
