They're a bit delicate though.
I got two 1-liter pyrex beakers for my starter. When I discard, I go down to 250ml and my mix hasn't managed to bubble up enough to overflow yet. The mouth is straight and wide so there's no cleaning issues like you have with those jars. Only downside is they're $17 a pop, but it's not like I've spent far more money on something I've used far less.
