First clean with a good leather cleaner like Cadillac or Apple. Use Meltonian cream in Black for corners or use Angelus leather dye (not paint) if you can be very careful not to put on too much. Finish it off with Renapur leather Balsam which will help with leather suppleness and sheen.

Possibly looks like a full grain leather belt (vs the more common and lower quality grade "genuine leather"), which would explain why it lasted. Try this, would enhance the leather.
