I use two of these little magnets. They're cold and smooth, you can rub them, spin them around each other, pull them apart and let them click back together. They're the absolute perfect calming, engrossing, repetitive physical stimulus for grounding.
Grab a set of these. You can probably find them at the local dollar/discount store. Run them over the carpet after a build session and problem solved. I got tired of skewering myself too.
