This might be a bit expensive for some but I recently moved into a house without a wired connection in my room. I'm also a gamer, so I realize the importance of pings, and this has been fine for Borderlands 3, a shooter that requires fast times. No hard lag spikes and I don't even use a range extender. The router comes through a bedroom, a bathroom, and then the computer room with a 4 out of 6 bar connection. Download/upload times are also insane with FiOS, about ten times faster than my Xfinity wired connection at my previous place for the same price.

Here's the wifi card I have in my pc, works very well IMO

So you're still planning the PC, nothing is built yet, correct? Do you have a list of parts? It's really hard to help with suggestions when we're given very little information :|

As for the WiFi card, if you absolutely have to have wifi, then get this ($60 - One of the best WiFi cards) or this (best sub-$20 card you'll find).

If you're able to, I would suggest getting a powerline adapter. You plug one into an outlet near your router and the other near your PC, then connect Ethernet cables and your Ethernet will connect through your electricity lines. This gives far better ping and consistency than wifi, but speeds are usually limited (anywhere from 25mbps to 125mbps depending on distance and wiring in your house).

This is what I use after switching from ethernet for convenience reasons: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0159222VS/

It's been perfect for online gaming for months now. No connection drops (unless internet is out), ping is pretty much the same as it was with ethernet.

As long as Switch has dual-band wi-fi at ~1100Mbps or better for the 5GHz band I doubt anyone would miss ethernet on it. Besides, Switch has to work as a portable console. Wireless just makes more sense.

If you can, get an internal wireless card. A wireless USB dongle is going to limit your speed as well, as even USB 3.0 is limited to 480mbps (your google fiber is 1000).

Ideally you would want something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-RNX-AC1900PCE-802-11AC-Express-Wireless/dp/B0159222VS

But even if you do have to go USB, it's still going to be fine, just not the best possible circumstance. Just make SURE you don't plug that USB wireless adapter into a USB 2.0 port or you'll be really limited, 3.0 only.

Something like

You may need to connect to ethernet to download the driver I'm not sure if they include them

If you have a standard desktop PC, yes. Some are better than others, and upgrading your router can also help.

Getting a dual band/triple band NIC with attachable antennas from a reputable brand helps. Usually the antennas can be upgraded with others that fit too.

This is one I'm going for. A bit Overkill but better safe than sorry:

Have a good one!

This is not related to the CPU and the CPU should not be opened.

Depending on your setup you would want either something similar to this or this.
