A few weeks ago the Rotring Rapid Pro, 600 and 800 were going for under $30 on Amazon. You could try those. They're built so well I feel like I could hurt someone by just knocking them on the head with one.

The graphgear 1000 and rotring 600 are the most highly recommended pencils on the subreddit, but if neither of these suit your fancy, jetpens has an excellent selection.

I found the mechanical pencil somewhere in Qatar before I got my end destination, turns out it's a rather expensive one so I hung on to it.
