I used to use a pry bar on them... but then i got myself a one of these

and it was like night and day.

Then you just need a hammer and some vicegrips to pull the nails out.

I've also found that if you can store your pallets out of the weather so they dry out, it all pulls apart a lot easier...

to quickly dismantle pallets. It is awesome and far easier than the other method I was using.

Not sure about wet/dry though. I would be slightly in favour of dry in my experience as the timber isn't swollen around the nails, but this tool doesn't seem to care!
