What about one of those hip wrap fanny packs? They just look like the waistband of yoga pants, and they're super stretchy. Something like this, maybe?
I use Bluetooth headphones and this hip belt with pockets when I run and it works great! I have an iPhone 6, not the plus so it isn't humongous, but i feel like it's still too big to wear on my arm. The pockets on the hip hugger are both vertical and horizontal and I've never had an issue with feeling like my phone was going to fall out.
