Here's the review of the case I released a couple of days ago

u/monokhrome · 4 pointsr/buildapcsales

I've been pretty happy with the Samson Meteor:

https://www.amazon.com/Samson-Meteor-Studio-Microphone-Chrome/dp/B00FQE337M?th=1

I wouldn't pick it up at that price, but it goes on sale for $45 occasionally, and it is a great mic for $45. It's sensitive enough to pick up my voice from 6"-36", but it doesn't pick up a ton of background noise nor the keystrokes from my Cherry MX Browns, unlike the Yeti. The Yeti is probably the technically superior mic in terms of performance / specs, but I returned mine after a few days because the build quality felt janky. It is huge and heavy, which might appealing, but the weight wasn't uniform and felt like a lead plate had been been stuffed into the base. The knobs and mute button also felt cheap, and the knobs required an unbelievable amount of force to turn. I had to keep one hand on the mic just to spin the gain knob with my other. Maybe I just got a dud.

If you don't have or want a boom arm, a gooseneck is lesser known option and easier to fit into a small space. I have mine clamped to the right of my mouse pad, and with the gooseneck bent to the left the mic sits directly in front of my mouth.

As a side note, you do need to remove the legs with a screwdriver in order to mount it properly, but it's easy and takes less than a minute.

I got this after a friend of mine wanted to start recording a podcast where he asks me insane "would you rather" questions.

We only recorded three or for episodes, but the mic worked great. Probably can go with something cheaper if you're just using it for discord or whatever, though.

Anybody want to hear my awful, discontinued, comedy podcast?

No, it came like that. Amazon link

One hour from this post. Also, Samson Meteor will be on sale in 57 minutes.

Sorry for taking my time, I got a bit busy with work.

The thing about your case temperatures, may be because of a couple of things.

I just picked up this Samson mic. I love it. Great value also. It's not necessarily cheap but it's something I would recommend investing a bit more into.

Well personally I use the following:

u/Black_Dalilah · 1 pointr/Zeos

ZEOS! i strongly recommend taking the Blue snowball off of this list. It is terrible for how much it costs.
For $70 you can get a samson meteor mic(i personally own) it is on par with a blue yeti and is a FAR better investment than the snowball.

If prices near me are correct:

The C1-U is 38$
Snowball is 49.99$
Meteor is 69.99

If you dont have a boom stand/Desk stand such as this, or this Buy the C1U + Stand (nearly same price as meteor alone, and it allows you to lift mic off table and higher up. Less keyboard+mice clicking noise and if its closer to your face it will have better pickup.)

If you already have a stand, then I would say grab the Snowball.

If you really like the look of the meteor then go for it. But understand that you are paying for the material around the mic, not necessarily better sound quality.

u/cowsareverywhere · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I would recommend the Blue Snowball, which sounds almost as good as the Yeti. The Samson Meteor is also great and slightly pricier.

Edit - if you want to attach your headphones to a mic, the ModMic will serve you well.

u/V0O2 · 1 pointr/ZReviews

I would assume the blue snowball just because desk mics typically sound better, a good idea would probably be to watch a few sound demo vids on each of the mics. Also if you're looking into desk mics the Samson Meteor is known to sound good and it's about the same price as a snowball.

A bit more than $40 but a great mic. Can work with iPad.

/u/Chiffmonkey, technically, I use that Sony lapel mic while chatting in-game or on a pod cast when I have my cans on. When I'm recording voiceover for a video, I'm using a Samson Meteor Mic. It's not a super high quality mic, but, given the right isolation, works rather well.

BUT, Monk is correct, that lapel mic is actually really good and CHEAP. You'd probably get a better sound from it compared to what you've got now.

Also, I've said it before Chiffmonkey, but THANKS for collecting all the SC music. I always go to your channel when I want something official.

are you talking about this?
https://www.amazon.com/Samson-Meteor-Studio-Microphone-Titanium/dp/B00FQE337M

it doesn't look like a scam.

u/wingsofriven · 1 pointr/Headphoneporn

Ah, I'm actually not that knowledgeable on microphones beyond the ubiquitous SM58s I used for some brief broadcasting work. I'm not sure how the audio/headphones community stands on the common USB condensers that most gamers who don't use headsets own, but I can recommend the ones I've used or heard very often on Discord/TS.

I have a Samson Meteor. It was inexpensive, the sound isn't bad at all, and I like it. It picks up my mechanical a little more harshly than I'd like, but that's on me for bottoming out when I type. My friends have either the Blue Yeti or the Pro variant, or the AT2020 (not sure which model, USB or XLR!). I think between all of us we cover all the most commonly recommended microphones under $200. Hope this wasn't all old information to you. :)

u/dkb_wow · 1 pointr/pcgaming

I use the Samson Meteor desktop mic. It has built in legs that are adjustable, and sounds really good for the price. There's a shiny chrome type version, as well as a greyish/black version, which is the one I have. I absolutely love it, and so do the people I play with. They all say my voice comes across MUCH more clear than it did when I was using the mic that comes on the Hyper X Cloud 2's.

Here's the version of the mic I have: https://www.amazon.com/Samson-Meteor-Studio-Microphone-Titanium/dp/B00FQE337M/
