I wouldn’t recommend it. What I am starting to see is that these USB drives actually wear out by reaching their write/read maximum cycles.
I have had 2 wear out already.
So I am now trying a MicroSD high endurance card paired with a 4-way card reader (USB, Lightning, usb-c, micro usb). I got it last night and tested with the car and my Mac (usb-c) so far good results. I need to test with my iPhone.

You want high endurance cards. A lot of people are using the Samsung Pro Endurance line

SanDisk just came out with some High Endurance cards as well, but they're brand new, and haven't been tested as thoroughly as the Samsung yet

I just installed this camera with this memory card.
That memory card is important, it's high endurance to hold up to the heat in a Texas car.
Great deal. Also recommend getting a high endurance SD card since it’s only a few bucks more but it’ll last longer. Normal ones can wear out quickly because of the read/write cycles

I had this issue when I was using cheap flash drives that (apparently) used a cache to write quickly for about 30 seconds but couldn't sustain a fast write speed. I got a high endurance micro SD card and it works flawlessly now.
