You could also get something like this for convenience.

There is. This one works with iOS. You can even get a flash drive that plugs into your phone to watch all four angles simultaneously right when you get into your car.

Yes it works but you need a lightning to USB adapter like this https://www.amazon.com/Apple-Lightning-USB3-Camera-Adapter/dp/B01F7KJDIM

Or you need to use a flash drive with lightning connector like this https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-iXpand-iPhone-Silver-SDIX30C-128G-GN6NE/dp/B01CIEBXZG

I think the quality of your experience will depend on the quality of the app that the manufacturer provides to access the files. As others have said, I’ve never heard of this brand before so I’d want to check out their app reviews.

I went with a Sandisk model that has the same dual lightning to USB dual connectors. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01CIEBXZG/ref=psdcmw_3151491_t1_B01MPXCGW3

Their app is really good and stable, and I’m able to quickly move files from the drive onto my phone (and even quickly watch the videos on my phone to identify the right file to move) before I leave the car, so I can always leave the drive in the car. Has worked really great for me so far.

Offload your archived documents to an external hard drive. The simplest method is to use a SanDisk Wireless Stick. It appears as a drive on your iPhone and you can copy directly to it and leave it safely at home. You can get 128GB for $70 US. For more security with your documents, buy a second drive and keep one at a friend or relative's house so in case of catastrophe you don't lose ALL of your data. Every few months, swap drives so you're adding to one while the other is safely away from home.

A better solution is to run a file server, but it will cost you $300 more with drive. Synology is a great choice and offers you the ability to serve files, calendars, music, movies, security video, notes, even your own cloud storage and store it all in a redundant array of disks that (nearly) guarantee you won't lose anything because one drive failed. It's more money, more work to set up, but it is extremely flexible. Synology is good about making the setup significantly easier than trying to run Windows Server or any Linux file server.

These are far from free options, however it does highlight that there is a cost to keeping things even if it isn't physical space.

This could help

I wish some law would be passed making "Industry standard and current removable memory" (SD cards, but worded in a way that if something else came along to dethrone SD it would be included) and "industry standard and current wired connectors" (micro-usb, but worded in a way that USB type C could replace it) would be mandatory for a phone to receive FCC approval.

I was afraid of that. Might give one of these a try and see if they're viable seeing as they were designed to support lightening. Wasn't ready to update iPads just yet.

Yeah, it’s just messy sometimes having to download it from the cloud. Depending on the speed of a hotel Wi-fi. Someone in the DJI group mentioned these to me which seems to do the job I was after.

I might just bite the bullet and bring my laptop.
